Scope of ServiceThe Queen's Medical Center Central Oahu Emergency Department (ED) is a 14-bed unit that provides comprehensive emergency medical and nursing services 24 hours a day for patients of all ages.
There is one primary treatment area:
1.
Main ER (14 beds) - All rooms are equipped with monitoring capability, suction, oxygen, and airway supplies.
There are some rooms that also have specialized equipment.
ResponsibilitiesI.
JOB SUMMARY/
Responsibilities:
o Responsible for coordinating clinical care of patient.
Integrates all health care providers to ensure high quality patient/family outcomes, and establishes a consistent and accountable relationship with patient/family.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, initiation and development of the plan of care, patient/family education, utilization management and discharge planning.
II.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
o Essential functions- Continuous:
lifting up to lb.
, seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering.
o Frequent to continuous:
standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.
o Frequent:
pushing and pulling up to 30 psi, lifting up to 10 lbs.

o Occasional to frequent:
squatting, twisting.
o Occasional:
pushing and pulling up to 70 psi; lifting:
horizontal lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 lbs.

o Work environment may be highly stressful, fast paced and hectic.
o Assignment to inpatient adult psych areas and Family Treatment Center includes occasionally accompanying patients outdoors.
o Management of confused/disoriented and combative patients may involve tasks which may compromise physical safety.
IV.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
o Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
o Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
o Current BLS certification.
o Depending on area assignment, additional certification(s) may be required.
o Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
Additional RequirementsAdditional Requirements for Experienced RN:
A.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Current ACLS certification.
Current PALS or ENPC certification.
If not certified, PALS or ENPC certification must obtained within twelve (12) months of entrance into the position.
Current NRP certification.
If not certified, NRP certification must be obtained within four (4) months of entrance into the position.
Starting 5/1/24, NRP certification must be obtained within three (3) months of entrance into the position.
B.
Experience:
Twelve (12) months Emergency RN experience required, preferably within the last three (3) years.
